Waste-to-Energy - In brief, Thermogenics Gasification can reduce the amount of solid waste that must be landfilled by up to 75%, without a reuse-recycling program and up to 90% with an active recycling program in place. Not only is the volume of landfilled material significantly reduced, but the nature of the remaining material, being primarily inorganic, is less likely to cause groundwater contamination.

Energy Production - A major advantage of the Thermogenics Gasifier is its ability to produce a low-BTU gas to run standard internal combustion engines driving electric generators or as fuel for steam or hot water boilers. By this capability and because the gasifier can operate from as low as 500 lbs. per hour (about 300 kW) to 6,000 lbs. per hour (6000 kW) the conversion of a wide range of solid wastes to energy becomes not only practical and economically viable, but environmentally sound (there are no waste gases vented to the atmosphere). The ability to operate over a wide capacity range and with many different feedstocks makes the production of energy possible for rural areas in underdeveloped countries not served by a nationalpower grid as well as generating offsetting revenues.

Feedstocks - The Thermogenics Gasifer can handle almost any solid or semi-solid organic feedstock which by itself or in combination has a heating value of 5,000 BTU per lb. (2,800 kcal per kg) or more. Feedstocks that have been tested or considered include: sorted municipal and commercial waste, shredded paper, wood waste, dewatered sewage sludge, scrap tires, agricultural waste, automobile shredder "fluff", paint sludge, oil field wastes and hydrocarbon contaminated soils

By-Products - Depending on the nature of the feedstock, either low-BTU gas for energy production (electricity or steam) can be produced or a range of by-products such as carbon black, diesel fuel and asphaltic materials (from tires); ammonia (from many feedstocks); liquefied gases such as hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide (from many feedstocks) and various other compounds.
